Patriot Brands, a start-up spirits producer, plans to build a distillery in Henry County, Kentucky.

This distillery will be built with an investment of $5m and will span 8,000ft².

Six-Mile Creek Distillery will produce bourbon and other spirits. It will also feature an 18th century log cabin and a 300ft² treehouse, reported thespiritsbusiness.com.

"The commonwealth has a long, proud history of distilling and it is our pleasure to welcome Patriot Brands to this Kentucky tradition."

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin was quoted by the website as saying: “The commonwealth has a long, proud history of distilling and it is our pleasure to welcome Patriot Brands to this Kentucky tradition.

“The economic impact made by our major bourbon and spirits producers is recognised at a national and an international level. Start-ups like Patriot Brands are drivers of product diversity in the marketplace.

“Not only will this company add innovation to one of Kentucky’s signature industries, it will also be honouring the rich heritage of Kentucky distilling and paying tribute to the patriots who fought for the liberties we treasure today.”

The new facility is expected to create 15 full-time jobs once it becomes operational.

Patriot Brands received $400,000 as tax incentives from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority (KEDFA).

Construction is slated to begin in September this year. Operations are expected to commence by August next year.
