Colorado-based craft brewer New Belgium Brewing has appointed Steve Fechheimer as its new CEO.

Steve Fechheimer is serving as chief strategy officer at Beam Suntory, a unit of Japan-based Suntory Holdings in Osaka that produces Jim Beam bourbon, Maker’s Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, and Midori melon liqueur.

Fechheimer will take over the new job in mid-August.

He was quoted by Coloradoan.com as saying: “I’m excited and humbled by the opportunity to lead such a wonderful company.

“New Belgium with its incredible history and heritage, has an amazingly bright future."

"[Steve's] appointment has followed the resignation of Christine Perich as CEO in November."

His appointment comes after the resignation of Christine Perich as CEO in November. Since Perich's resignation, New Belgium co-founder and former CEO Kim Jordan has been serving as interim CEO. Jordan will continue to be the executive chairwoman of New Belgium's board of directors and oversee the company's plans.

Jordan was quoted by Coloradoan.com as saying: “We are so excited to welcome (Fechheimer) to New Belgium.

“His expertise at strategy development and execution in the high-end world of spirits, coupled with our 26 years of solid brewing and branding, is a perfect setup for the kind of dynamic future New Belgium is planning."
