Michael David Winery has acquired Geyserville winery, its vineyards, and its tasting room in the US.

The winery was constructed in 1882 and was owned and operated by Silver Oak Cellars from 1992. It will now move to a new Alexander Valley production facility in June, upon completion of the transaction.

As part of the deal, Michael David Winery will acquire 12 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards within Sonoma's Alexander Valley AVA.

The acquisition is expected to further strengthen the company’s presence in the North Coast wine region.

Michael David Winery has been sourcing fruit from the North Coast for years as part of its growing wine programme.

"Having the ability to make these North Coast lots from harvest to glass adds another level of control and quality assurance to our finished wines."

Michael David Winery's operations vice-president Kevin Phillips said: "Even though our roots are in Lodi, quality fruit from the North Coast region has always played an important role as blending components to our wines.

"Having the ability to make these North Coast lots from harvest to glass adds another level of control and quality assurance to our finished wines.”

“For that reason, we are even more excited to be an active contributor to the community."

Alexander Valley's Munselle Vineyards will manage the property's vineyard. Michael David Winery produces brands such as the 7 Deadly Zins, Freakshow, Petite Petit, and Earthquake and has more than 800 acres of vineyards in the Lodi Appellation.
