Meijer dairy plant

Meijer, a US-based hypermarket chain, is set to establish a new dairy production facility in Tipp City, Ohio.

The company has broken ground on the new plant, as part of its expansion project to boost its manufacturing capabilities.

According to the company, the 173,000ft² expansion will include a 105,000ft² dairy facility.

The facility will produce milk, and a range of dairy products including cottage cheese and yogurt, which will be available to 100 stores in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.

Meijer co-CEO Mark Murray said, "This expansion allows us to enhance our commitment to provide the freshest products for our customers, while growing our manufacturing capabilities and Meijer brand offerings."

The plant is expected to employ around 100 people.

Going forward, the company plans to invest around $100m in the city.

Dayton Development Coalition president & CEO Jeff Hoagland said, "The Meijer groundbreaking is yet another exciting announcement for the Dayton Region and the great state of Ohio."

Founded in 1934, Meijer operates supercenters and grocery stores throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky.
