California-based Jackson Family Wines has reached an agreement to buy Penner-Ash Wine Cellars in Willamette Valley of Oregon, US.

Penner-Ash Wine Cellars has been founded by Lynn and Ron Penner-Ash in 1998, and is known for its Pinot Noirs and Viogniers.

According to the terms of the agreement, Lynn Penner-Ash will continue in her role as Penner-Ash winemaker with control over all winemaking decisions, including grape sourcing, and retain a continuing interest in the success of the Penner-Ash brand.

"Our shared passion for site-specific winemaking, from the best vineyards in Yamhill Carlton, Ribbon Ridge, Eola-Amity, Dundee and throughout the Willamette Valley, makes this a natural collaboration."

However, Jackson Family Wines will acquire substantially all of Penner-Ash Wine Cellars’ business assets, comprising the winery and approximately 15 acres of vineyards, and focus its efforts on providing sales, marketing, distribution and back-office administrative support.

Jackson Family Wines chairman and proprietor Barbara Banke said: "Our shared passion for site-specific winemaking, from the best vineyards in Yamhill Carlton, Ribbon Ridge, Eola-Amity, Dundee and throughout the Willamette Valley, makes this a natural collaboration."

All the current employees of Penner-Ash Wine Cellars will continue with the new business post-closure of the deal.

The specific terms of the agreement have not been divulged and the transaction is expected to close in late April or early May.

Penner-Ash Wine Cellars was represented in the deal by Zepponi & Company.

Jackson Family Wines’ five wineries cover more than 1,300 acres in Oregon.
