Hemingway Rum Company has announced plans to open the Rum Distillery & Experience Center in Key West, US.

The new distillery covers an 8,000ft2 area, which will support the production of Papa’s Pilar rum. The facility will feature an experience centre, a tasting room, a trading post, and a rentable event centre.

The plant will also feature a 350-gallon Hamilton Pot Still, with a custom-made reflux column that has the ability to potential to produce up to 80 gallons of rum a day.

Hemingway Rum Company's Key West operations director Carlton Grooms said: “We’re excited to have created both a destination that will serve as the physical heart and soul of our brand, as well as an asset for the city of Key West.

"It’s here that we chose to celebrate [Ernest Hemingway] and Papa’s Pilar, the rum inspired by his spirit of adventure."

Carlton Grooms will manage the production of the rum at this plant.
