Halewood Wines & Spirits has introduced a new handcrafted quince gin under its Whitley Neill range in the UK.

The new gin is prepared from quince fruit juice, which provides a smooth and sweet flavour, reported Foodbev.com.

Halewood expects that the beverage will appeal to those looking for new flavours.

It is bottled at an alcohol volume of 43% and is available in 70cl bottles at £26. The firm intends to launch a further 5cl and 20cl bottle.

"We wanted to develop a liquid to offer consumers something completely different."

Halewood's Whitley Neill representative was quoted by the webiste as saying: “Whitley Neill gin’s popularity, both in the UK and abroad, has stemmed from its unique flavour combinations and botanicals, including the use of the baobab fruit.

“We wanted to develop a liquid to offer consumers something completely different, and this is the first UK gin which uses real quince fruit juice alongside a range of other ingredients to create a particularly smooth, sweet gin."

The firm claimed that it is the first to launch quince gin in the UK market.
