Emmi, a Swiss dairy company, has acquired the remaining 40% stake in Mittelland Molkerei from AZM Verwaltungs, an investment firm of the Mittelland Milk Producers’ Cooperative (MPM).

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed by either of the companies.

Mittelland Molkerei, which is based in Suhr, was 60% owned by Emmi and 40% by the AZM Verwaltungs AG since it was founded in 2005.

"The purchase of the 40% share package and the associated complete takeover of Mittelland Molkerei AG is evidence of Emmi’s clear commitment to Switzerland."

Emmi CEO Urs Riedener said: “The purchase of the 40% share package and the associated complete takeover of Mittelland Molkerei AG is evidence of Emmi’s clear commitment to Switzerland.”

At the Suhr facility, Emmi will continue to process milk into cream, butter, and consumer milk (pasteurised and UHT).

Over the last ten years, this facility has been constantly upgraded with modern technologies.

The Suhr facility generates sales of CHF500m ($50.8m) and has a workforce of 350 employees.

The takeover will not affect plant management or the employees of Mittelland Molkerei AG.
