E. & J. Gallo Winery

US-based establishment E. & J. Gallo Winery (Gallo) has acquired Ledgewood Creek Winery and Vineyard in Solano County, California, for an undisclosed amount.

The Ledgewood Creek Winery, which is located east of Napa Valley in the North Coast AVA, is spread over an area of about 400 acres.

It has a 230-acre vineyard, which produces a wide range of premium wine grapes including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.

Commenting on the acquisition, Gallo Premium Wine Division senior vice president and general manager Roger Nabedian said the vineyard is an addition to the company’s portfolio to support the rapid growth it had in its wine business.

"This portion of Solano County in the North Coast AVA can produce exceptional wine grapes," Nabedian added.

At present, Gallo has no immediate plans to operate the Ledgewood Creek Winery or tasting room.

Earlier in February 2014, Gallo has secured rights to exclusively distribute Italy’s Allegrini wines in the US, beginning 1 April.

The Allegrini portfolio features the Allegrini and Poggio al Tesoro brands.

E. & J. Gallo produces, distributes, and markets wines to customers in the US and internationally. It offers table and sparkling wines, beverage products, dessert wines, and distilled spirits.
