Core Nutrition has introduced Core Organic, a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) certified organic fruit-infused beverage, as part of its efforts to tap the growing demand for an organic market in the US, which was estimated to be valued at around $40bn in 2014.

The low-calorie beverage will be rolled out at grocers including Kroger, Safeway / Albertson’s, Save Mart / Lucky Supermarkets, H-E-B, Sprouts Farmers Market, Acme, Tops Friendly Markets, Bristol Farms, and select Whole Foods Markets through May.

Further, extensive distribution will commence at 7-Eleven locations on both coasts, as part of the retailer’s push for ‘better for you’ beverages.

”Eighteen months later, we’re introducing Core Organic, making organic enjoyable without the trade-offs of taste or higher calorie.”

Core Organic does not include artificial ingredients, high calorie counts or sugar.

Citing research, the company stated that around 85% of Americans are currently buying organic and 75% of conventional grocery stores are carrying organic products across the country.

Core Nutrition founder and CEO Lance Collins said: "Organic is one of the hottest trends, but it’s not enough on its own. No one has been able to crack the code and deliver on all three attributes of organic, low calorie and great taste. So we set out to quench consumers’ thirst and deliver a revolutionary new product.

"Eighteen months later, we’re introducing Core Organic, making organic enjoyable without the trade-offs of taste or higher calories and so far the reception from retailers, distributors and consumers has been extremely positive."

The low-glycemic Core Organic is claimed to have less than 1g of sugar per serving, and contains as many antioxidants as a half cup of blackberries or cherries, all derived from white tea extract and maqui berry.

It contains only five calories per serving, is gluten-free, is a non-genetically-modified organism (GMO), kosher, soy-free, vegan.

The drink comes in six unique flavours; peach mango, watermelon lemonade, pomegranate blue acai, orange clementine, coconut colada, and orchard pear.
