Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia plans to open a distribution centre with an investment of $63m (IDR819bn) in Surabaya.

This will be the firm’s fourth distribution centre. The other three are located at Cibitung, Medan and Semarang.

It will be operated by Australia-based Coca-Cola Amatil’s Indonesia unit.

“ Since 2012, the company has commissioned more than 15 new production lines.”

The distribution centre is expected to begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Recently, the company invested $500m in Indonesia, which is the one of the largest markets for Coca-Cola Amatil in Southeast Asia, reported The Jakartapost.com.

Coca-Cola Amatil group managing director Alison Watkins was quoted by the website as saying: "Indonesian business delivered solid volume growth and strong market share gains. Economic growth, however, has slowed in Indonesia, which is impacting overall consumer purchasing power."

Since 2012, the company has commissioned more than 15 new production lines.

As per a 2015 financial report, the company’s sales of non-alcoholic beverages in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea touched $774.13m, which is 19.8% of the $3.91bn reported.

Its sales in fiscal 2015 increased 8.77% when compared to 2014.
