Black Medicine Iced Coffee, a cold-pressed brewed ready-to-drink (RTD) coffee maker, has replaced its current aluminium bottles with cans to meet consumer demand for better portability and convenience.

The company claimed that there is no change to the coffee beverage.

The brand was launched in 2014. Black Medicine Iced Coffee founder and CEO Chris Cooper said: "While the brand has experienced tremendous consumer response to-date, we decided to move to cans from bottles to make on-the-go usage even more convenient."

"We are excited that we are passing on cost savings associated with this package change."

Black Medicine will also reduce the price as a result of lower packaging costs.

Cooper added: "Furthermore, we are excited that we are also passing on cost savings associated with this package change, and consumers can expect the retail price to drop an estimated 50 cents per unit, from $3.99 to $3.49 on average."

Black Medicine claimed that it has redefined the RTD coffee experience by offering full-bodied intensity as a result of its proprietary process, in which fresh roasted coffee is hot brewed then cold pressed under oxygen-free pressure to allow for a fuller extraction. This process is reported to result in a bolder and more intense cold coffee than that offered by cold brews.

Black Medicine is brewed and bottled in a 18,000ft² facility in Oakland.

The brand is currently available in three flavours and sold in natural, specialty and grocery stores, including Whole Foods Markets, New Seasons, and Safeway.
