Bardstown Bourbon Company, a whiskey producer, has begun commercial production at its facility in Bardstown, Kentucky, after three years of development work.

The company also announced that it is preparing to expand because its collaborative whiskey, bourbon, and rye distilling programme is sold out, based on the present capacity of the distillery.

Bardstown Bourbon Company president & CEO David Mandell said: “The Bardstown Bourbon Company is reshaping the American whiskey market.

"I’m so proud to be starting up this incredible operation in my hometown. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

“The success of our Collaborative Distilling Program demonstrates the massive demand for custom, authentic, Kentucky whiskey products. We’re excited to begin producing bourbon for our customers and our own brands.”

The distillery’s 1.5 million proof gallon capacity can be expanded to over six million proof gallons within the current design, by installing additional equipment. This will enable the company to acquire new customers in the third quarter of 2017.

Bardstown Bourbon Company Master Distiller Steve Nally said: “We’ve turned on the whiskey at the Bardstown Bourbon Company.

“I’m so proud to be starting up this incredible operation in my hometown. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we’re excited to share it with the world soon.”

The company also plans to open a visitors and events center next year, which will contain one of the largest collections of whiskey in the state of Kentucky.
