US-based Balcones Distillery has opened its new distillery in Waco, Texas.

Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce chairman Tate Christensen was quoted by thespiritsbusiness.com as saying: "The new Balcones Distilling facility is a perfect addition to Waco’s booming business community."

The new location will allow Balcones to bolster its growth in the market due to gas line upgrades and improved electrical and parking infrastructure.

“With the help of this new facility, our product can only improve.”

Over the next five years, the distillery expects to pay almost $300,000 in property taxes.

Balcones president and chief operating officer Keith Bellinger said: "It is amazing to see our long-time dream project come alive.

"This new facility will not only allow Balcones to meet growing product demand, but will also allow us to welcome whisky fans to the site with features like our tasting room."

Balcones Distillery opened its first distillery eight years ago at the 17th St bridge in Waco, but the craft whisky distiller outgrew this 3,000ft² facility. The present distillery is 6,000ft².

Balcones head distiller Jared Himstedt was quoted by kwtx.com as saying: "With the help of this new facility, our product can only improve."

According to Himstedt, the new facility enables the distillery to gain more flexibility to craft new styles of Texas whiskies and spirits.

"I see a promising future for our whiskies."
