Australian Whisky Holdings (AWH) has closed the purchase of the Nant Distillery assets, including the Nant intellectual property, from the receivers of NAW Distillery.

AWH stated that it will continue with decanting and bottling of AWH-owned Nant whisky and bottling at the Nant Estate located at Bothwell, Tasmania.

Last October, AWY signed a $3m deal with the Nant Group to acquire Nant Distillery and the Nant Estate in Boswell.

“This brings to an end any disruption to the production and marketing of the world-class Nant whisky.”

Nant Group founder Keith Batt filed for bankruptcy in February.

AWY will assume Nant debts and liabilities worth $5.5m following due diligence.

AWH said: “This brings to an end any disruption to the production and marketing of the world-class Nant whisky.

“Settlement of the acquisition also brings a formal end to the federal court proceedings initiated by the receivers as between the receivers, AWH and certain of its related entities.”

Opened in 2008, the Nant distillery produces a range of single malt whisky matured in French oak Port casks, American oak Sherry casks, French oak Pinot Noir casks and American oak Bourbon casks, reported The Spirits Business.
