New Zealand-based A2 Milk is planning to launch its products in the US next year, by financing the expansion from its existing cashflow.

The company will invest $20m in the US over three years.

A2, which has been listed in New Zealand since 2004, also plans to get listed in teh Australian stock exchange.

A2 Milk managing director Geoffrey Babidge said: "Clearly as this business continues to grow strongly there continues to be interest in the potential dual listing.

"It is an agenda item that the board is more seriously contemplating because of the interest by consumers, the interest by institutions and the importance of the business base that is the market at this point in time."

The milk producer’s profit for the year ended June 30 decreased to $10,000 from $4.1m in the previous year even as the sales rose 17% to $111m.

A2 milk is sold mostly in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. A2 is cow’s milk that contains only the A2 type of beta-casein protein rather than the more common A1 protein commonly found in regular milk.
