Craft brewer New Belgium Brewing (NBB) has signed an agreement to handle all brewing and logistics for beer and lifestyle brand Island Coastal Lager (ICL).

Under the agreement, New Belgium Brewing will handle logistics for the beer in 16 additional states in the US.

ICL co-founder Brandon Perry said: “Island Coastal Lager has carved out its own clean, easy-drinking category providing an alternative to mass-produced beers brewed with fillers and preservatives.”

ICL is brewed using high-quality ingredients and was initially introduced in the South Carolina market in October 2017. Within a year, it was sold in major grocery chains across the state.

“We look forward to helping the Island team further by providing high-quality beer and logistics services as ICL expands to the entire East Coast and west through Texas.”

Last year, distribution of ICL expanded throughout the south-east to include South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

Under the latest partnership with New Belgium Brewing, the number of states where ICL is sold is now set to increase.

New Belgium Brewing CEO Steve Fechheimer said: “Island Coastal Lager is at an exciting inflection point, having created both a lifestyle brand and a high-quality product that more consumers are quickly embracing.

“We look forward to helping the Island team further by providing high-quality beer and logistics services as ICL expands to the entire East Coast and west through Texas.”

New Belgium Brewing will start ICL production this month and will package both draft and 12oz and 16oz cans.

ICL co-founder Scott Hansen said: “We are now poised to launch brand extensions that will further solidify our place in the market as a crossover between macro and craft.”

ICL is brewed with ingredients that contain no fillers or preservatives and is an easy-drinking beer at 4.5% ABV with a smooth, crisp finish.
