Nestlé Group’s bottled water division Nestlé Waters has invested CHF25m ($24.96m) to modernise Sources Minérales Henniez’s mineral water bottling plant in Switzerland.

This is the largest investment Nestlé Water has made in Henniez since it acquired Henniez ten years ago.

The investment is reported to be part of Nestlé Waters’ project called H2Orizon 2020, which aims to improve facility efficiency with new equipment, processes, innovation and reduce ecological impact.

As part of the innovation element of H2Orizon 2020, the company will be installing a new production line for the preparation of flavoured waters and fruit juices, while the efficiency element will focus on the replacement of two ageing bottling lines with one modern, more efficient line.

“Thanks to this investment, we will reinforce the Henniez production site and equip it for the future development of our strong brands.”

The ecology element will be implemented in the next year and will see the relocation of production from the company’s secondary site, in the village of Henniez, to the principal factory in the Treize-Cantons industrial zone.

The company claims road traffic in the village centre will be reduced as the the company operations are moved 2.5km away.

Nestlé Waters Switzerland general director Alessandro Rigoni said: “Thanks to this investment, we will reinforce the Henniez production site and equip it for the future development of our strong brands.

“We have established an exemplary partnership with the most important actors of the region, notably with the ECO-Broye environmental project, which protects Henniez’ water resources. And we will continue on this path in the future.”
