Molson Coors beer brand Sol has launched lime flavoured and salt chelada, Sol Chelada Limón y Sal, in the US market.

With 3.5% alcohol by volume (ABV), natural Sol Chelada Limón y Sal offers a combination of Sol’s signature lager with lime flavour and salt.

The company said that the launch of lime-flavoured beer was in response to the growing demand for classic Mexican chelada mixes in the US.

Molson Coors North American imports senior marketing manager Katie Feldman said: “We are excited for everyone to enjoy the same authentic recipe that has the number one spot in the heart of Mexican beer drinkers.

“Sol Chelada Limón y Sal is brewed for anyone who appreciates authentic Mexican flavours and loves to drink outside on a bright, sunny day.”

Packed in 24oz single cans, Sol Chelada Limón y Sal is now available in select cities across the country.

Molson Coors adds that its beer variant will be joining its existing US portfolio that includes the original Sol Chelada and Sol lager.

It further adds that the launch will support a new campaign, which includes 15 video spots that consumers will see across digital channels.

In January, Molson Coors Beverage Company’s US craft division Tenth and Blake Beer agreed to acquire Michigan’s fourth-largest craft brewer Atwater Brewery.

Founded in 1997 as Atwater Block Brewery, Atwater produces contemporary ales sold under Dirty Blonde and Vanilla Java Porter brands.

It also produces a wide range of India pale ales (IPA)s, an American brown ale and a host of German-style lagers.
