Michter’s Distillery is all set to release a 2018 bottling of its barrel-finished Bourbon US*1 in the market after a period of three years.

Last released in 2015, the distillery took a three-year pause due to whiskey shortages experienced by the company.

Michter’s Distillery president Joseph Magliocco said: “We need to allocate our whiskeys because we just don’t have enough to meet demand.

“It’s remarkable how the character of our US*1 Bourbon can be transformed by some extra time in a barrel.”

“Because of the goods situation, we debated whether to do this release. In the end, we made the decision to make some toasted barrel-finished Bourbon for our loyal customers who have been clamouring for it.”

With 45.7% alcohol-by-volume (ABV), the 2018 Mitcher’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Bourbon has been produced by ageing Michter’s US*1 Kentucky Straight Bourbon for an additional period in a second custom-made barrel.

Michter’s master of maturation Andrea Wilson said: “It’s remarkable how the character of our US*1 Bourbon can be transformed by some extra time in a barrel skillfully toasted to our particular specifications.”

Beginning next month, the new Michter’s US*1 Toasted Barrel Finish Bourbon will be available for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $60 per 750ml bottle in the US.

Michter’s Distillery has been offering a wide range of alcoholic products including small batch bourbon, single barrel bourbon, single barrel rye and small batch American whiskey.

At its 145-acre property in Springfield, Kentucky, the company is farming its own non-GMO estate-grown grain for whiskey making.
