Taiwan-based distillery Kavalan has expanded its offerings portfolio with the new entry-level range to capture the broad market.

Kavalan Distillery Select Single Malt Whisky No1 will be joining existing Kavalan series such as Solist and Rare Sherries.

Offering an aroma of ripened tropical fruits, fragrant floral notes and warm vanilla at the nose, Kavalan Distillery Select Single Malt Whisky No1 is claimed to feature-rich and complex layers of butterscotch, creamy toffee and vanilla to create a soft and thick multi-layered taste.

Speaking of the new product, Kavalan CEO YT Lee said: “In this range, drinkers will get all the benefit of our team’s fine craftsmanship at a surprising price point. We are doing things a little differently. We’re pursuing the flavours profile first, rather than a particular cask.

“For our first whisky, we emphasise tropical fruits and for the second whisky, floral and herbal notes. Each whisky in this range showcases different facets of Kavalan’s distinct character. Every expression delivers high quality at a friendly price.”

With 40% alcohol by volume (ABV), the new distillery series will be featuring the company’s entry-level whisky range and is said to offer a superior art of blending.

Lee explained that the Distillery Select Series has been produced to satisfy both whisky beginners and connoisseurs.

Kavalan Distillery Select No2, the second variant in the range, is claimed to be aromatic with floral and herbal complexity and will soon be available global market.

Last January, Kavalan introduced a new triple-distilled gin with 40% alcohol-by-volume (ABV). Named Kavalan Gin, the beverage has been double-charcoal filtered and triple distilled in conventional stills.

It is prepared from a malted barley spirit and a mix of six natural botanical extracts, including kumquat, star fruit and guava.
