KanPak US has opened a new 202,800ft² warehouse facility in Arkansas City, Kansas, US.

The facility will be used to store various finished and raw products such as ingredients and packaging materials.

Built with an investment of $11m, the facility is designed to help KanPak provide improved service to its customers.

Arco Construction built the facility over a period of less than a year. It has created 20 new jobs in Arkansas City and will cater to KanPak customers such as Chick-fil-A, Whataburger, Tim Hortons, QuikTrip and Perrigo.

“The elimination of a third-party facility allows KanPak to be a one-stop-shop, providing our customers with even better customer service.”

KanPak CEO Larry McGill said: “This new warehouse will provide KanPak more direct control over our inventory, which results in cost savings for our customers.

“Additionally, the proximity of the warehouse to our manufacturing plant is more efficient, and the elimination of a third-party facility allows KanPak to be a one-stop-shop, providing our customers with even better customer service.”

KanPak uses aseptic processing technology to pack its beverages and desserts, which are supplied to the quick service restaurant (QSR), convenience store and retail food industry.

The company is also engaged in the processing and storage of dairy products. The process involves heat treatment and packaging and allows the storage of products such as milk and soft serve ice cream mix by killing bacteria.

This processing technology enables warehouses to keep two ambient temperature zones, including 70°F for raw goods and 80°F for finished items.

Compared to cold chain technology, the processing technology used by KanPak is said to be more environmentally sustainable.
