Beam Suntory’s brand Hornitos Tequila has announced the launch of a new line of tequila-based ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages called Hornitos Tequila Seltzer, which will be available in two natural flavours, lime and mango.

Beam Suntory Tequila managing director Rashidi Hodari said: “The tequila and RTD cocktail segments are two of the fastest-growing segments in the spirits category right now, with hard seltzer retail sales up 225% in the last year alone.

“With our pioneering history, we’re excited to seize this momentum and bring tequila and seltzer together to deliver a whole new Hornitos Tequila experience for those looking for a refreshing, premium RTD beverage.”

With 5% alcohol by volume (ABV), the new product is a combination of real Plata tequila and seltzer.

Featuring natural ingredients, each variant is said to contain less than 115kcal and are free from artificial sweeteners.

Beginning this week, the RTD tequila seltzers are available in 12oz cans in select markets and across the US in the second half of the year.

It will have a suggested retail price (SRP) of $11.99 for each four-pack.

Hornitos Tequila Seltzer will be joining a portfolio that includes Hornitos Plata Tequila, Hornitos Reposado Tequila, Hornitos Añejo Tequila, Hornitos Cristalino Tequila and Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila.

In October 2017, Hornitos expanded its tequila range by launching Hornitos Cristalino in the US market.

Hornitos Cristalino is a triple-distilled añejo tequila that is claimed to have been aged for nearly 12 months in traditional American white oak casks.
