Cider maker Hawkes is set to introduce a new co-fermented fusion of beer and cider later this month.

Known as Graff, the new product is produced in Hawkes’ London cidery. It is made from fermented Braeburn and Bramley apples, which are blended with caramelised and malty beer wort, American Ale and Sauvignon Blanc X5 yeasts.

Hawkes’ owner Simon Wright said: “I’m extremely proud to unveil our Graff today, the latest addition to our family. I believe this is a landmark day for cider, and proof of what the industry can achieve when we push ourselves to innovate.

“Hopped with Amarillo and Cascade, the hybrid drink features 5.4% alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and is packaged in 330ml cans.”

“The Graff defines the very purpose of Hawkes, which is to challenge ourselves to create industry-leading liquids, then take it to the masses, defining a new genre of cider maker.

“2018 is going to be a hugely exciting year for the whole team at Hawkes, and this is the first step of our mission to save the UK cider market from itself.”

Hopped with Amarillo and Cascade, the hybrid drink features 5.4% alcohol-by-volume (ABV) and is packaged in 330ml cans.

Priced at £3.00 per can or £10.00 for a case of four, the new drink is currently available in the company’s Taproom and online, with samples in Barworks sites.

Founded in 2012 in London, Hawkes’ brand portfolio includes Urban Orchard, Elephants on Ice Winter Cider, Soul Trader and Alcoholic Ginger Beer.
