UK-based alcoholic beverages manufacturer and distributor Halewood International is set to open a distillery and bar in Bristol later this month.

The Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery will house two stills with 500l and 200l capacity each.

The 500l double retort rum still will be used by the company to produce its Dead Man’s Fingers Spiced Rum.

Furthermore, the 200l still will serve as Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery’s working gin still.

Bristol & Bath Rum Distillery general manager Chris Hotson said: “Bristol has a rich rum heritage and one of the UK’s most vibrant food and drink scenes.

“It was a natural choice for Halewood’s new bar & rum distillery – it’s an exciting place to be and we’re looking forward to welcoming locals and visitors from across the UK and further afield to enjoy immersive experiences where they can learn more about provenance-led craft rums.

“Dead Man’s Finger’s Spiced Rum, the fast-growing brand that originated from Cornwall’s Rum & Crab Shack in St Ives, is disrupting the rum category – it really strikes a chord with people looking to discover adventurous flavours.”

Additionally, the 7,500ft2 venue will be home to a Rum School, allowing visitors to distil spiced rum in small copper stills.

The bar will stock more than 150 rums from over 50 different rum-producing countries. It will also feature a wide selection of rum cocktails.

Hotson added: “The new distillery will make Dead Man’s Fingers more accessible, allowing visitors to distil rum themselves and learn about rums from around the world, which are also defined by fine ingredients, flavours and distilling methods. This fits perfectly with Bristol’s pioneering and eclectic appreciation of food and drink.”
