US-based wine importer and marketer Guarachi Wine Partners has expanded Chilean wine brand VIK to the US market.

VIK was founded in 2004 by Norwegian entrepreneur Alexander Vik and his wife Carrie.

Guarachi Wine Partners will represent VIK’s complete portfolio be responsible for its sales, marketing and distribution throughout the US from January next year.

“Their winemaking, philosophy, innovation and overall quality will rival First Growths from Bordeaux.”

Alexander Vik said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Guarachi Wine Partners. Their more than 33 successful years in this industry is proof that they fully understand our market and how to represent VIK in the US.”

Guarachi Wine Partners’ CEO and founder Alex Guarachi has been introducing South American wines into the US market since 1985. He founded Guarachi Family Wines in 2007 to sell his own label of limited beverages sourced from micro-lots within estate vineyards from the Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast and Napa Valley areas.

Guarachi said: “I’ve always had a special interest in following the changing trends of the South American wine landscape over the decades.

“VIK is unlike anything I’ve seen from South America. Their winemaking, philosophy, innovation and overall quality will rival First Growths from Bordeaux, which is why I’m very excited for this partnership.”

Guarachi Wine Partners’ existing lineup includes South American wines, which are well represented in Chile and Argentina, including heritage brands such as Bodega Norton, Santa Ema, Kaiken, and King Malbec.
