US-based Fetzer Vineyards has acquired the Excelsior Wine Company collection.

With the inclusion of Excelsior in its portfolio, Fetzer Vineyards is one of the major suppliers of South American wines in the US.

The portfolio includes wine brands such as Don Melchor, Marques de Casa Concha, Casillero del Diablo and Frontera labels, as well as Trivento Reserve.

“These wines further enhance the breadth of our offerings, and allow us to deliver a variety of desirable brands across multiple origins.”

Fetzer Vineyards CEO Giancarlo Bianchetti said: “We are thrilled to add this celebrated and diverse portfolio to our growing collection.

“These wines further enhance the breadth of our offerings, and allow us to deliver a variety of desirable brands across multiple origins, and in every market segment, for our valued trade partners and wine consumers.”

The Excelsior portfolio is expected to complement Fetzer Vineyards’ collection, which includes barrel-aged bourbon and organic beverages.

Established in 1968 by Barney Fetzer in Mendocino County, California, the company is part of global winery, Viña Concha y Toro.

Founded in 1883, Viña Concha y Toro is reported to be one of the largest wine companies in Chile and Latin America, and the fifth-largest in the world in terms of volume sold.

Following the addition of Excelsior’s wines, Fetzer Vineyards’ portfolio will comprise around 5.2 million cases a year.
