Elk Brewing Company is set to introduce two varieties of fruit-infused beer in the US market.

Produced using juice concentrates sourced from Old Orchard Brands, Elk Brewing’s new range includes Watermelon Cucumber and Blueberry Cucumber varieties.

The new beers are said to be made in the Gose beer style, a German-style sour beer characterised by a crisp tartness and a salty finish.

The products will be available on-draft at Elk Brewing’s two pubs and will be sold in cans.

“The new Gose flavours we’ve released this summer highlight our ability to bring unique, quality craft beer to West Michigan.”

Elk Brewing owner Eric Karns said: “Elk Brewing has been focused on creativity since the beginning. The new Gose flavours we’ve released this summer highlight our ability to bring unique, quality craft beer to West Michigan and beyond, and it underscores our desire to pair with local partners to bring these concepts to life.”

In addition, Elk Brewing has partnered with Old Orchard for other fruit flavoured beers, including its PB & J’Ale’Y, which uses grape juice concentrate supplied by the latter.

Old Orchard Brands Purchasing director Chris Kohler said: “The calls from brewmasters buying our juice concentrate in bulk has increased dramatically in the past 12 months.

“They had discovered our frozen juice concentrates at retail grocery stores and were buying all of the cans off the shelf for use in their beers and wines. We’ve since introduced a programme to allow these brewers to buy in bulk from us directly.”

Currently, Old Orchard offers more than 20 different juice concentrates for commercial use, ranging from apricot to rhubarb flavours.
