US-based craft spirits producer Eastside Distilling has expanded its range of rum products with the release of coffee-infused spirit Hue-Hue Coffee Rum.

The new 70-proof spirit is infused with Arabica coffee beans that are sourced from Finca El Paternal Estate in Huehuetenango, Guatemala.

The coffee is roasted by Portland Roasting Company and cold brewed in small batches in Eastside by hand. This cold-brewed coffee is hand blended with silver rum and Demerara sugar is added.

Named after the highlands of Guatemalan city Huehuetenango, the spirit carries the flavour of cold brew coffee without syrupy sugar sweetness.

“The spirit’s bottle was designed by branding firm Sandstrom Partners from Portland.”

Eastside Distilling master distiller Mel Heim said: “Our contemporary imagining of coffee rum as a hip incarnation of Pacific Northwest cold brew is a premium spirit that quickly rose to be the number one seller by volume in our tasting rooms.

“We were very proud of cold brew coffee rum and we knew we had a hit, but the old Below Deck bottle it was packed in was keeping its great DNA a secret.

“The new Sandstrom Hue-Hue bottle fixes that and then some because it explains what our cold brew coffee rum is in a way that is worthy of its premium ingredients and it also tells the fascinating backstory of its Guatemalan and Portland roots.”

Based on Eastside’s brand Below Deck Coffee Rum, Hue-Hue Coffee Rum is distributed in the state of Oregon.

Portland-based Eastside Distilling’s product line-up includes Burnside Bourbon, West End American Whiskey, Goose Hollow Reserve, Below Deck Rums, Portland Potato Vodka, Hue-Hue Coffee Rum and fruit-based spirits.
