Shooting Gallery Wines is a joint venture (JV) between winemaker Dave Phinney and Spain-based Codorníu Raventós Group’s wholly-owned subsidiary Aveníu Brands.

Gallo premium wine division senior vice-president and general manager Roger Nabedian said: “Dave propels innovation to the highest levels by challenging the conventional way of doing things and removing the barrier of rules in winemaking.

“We are excited to continue working with the talented and creative Dave Phinney, who will stay on as winemaker for Locations. This purchase supports Gallo’s mission to participate and excel in all segments of the wine market.”

Under the terms of the deal, Gallo will acquire Locations’ brand and related inventory.

Locations offers wines that represent the history and tradition of France, Spain, Italy, Argentina, California, New Zealand, Oregon, Washington, Portugal, Corsica and Texas.

Gallo noted that Dave Phinney will continue as a winemaker in Locations.

Locations founder Dave Phinney said: “I’m excited to continue building upon the momentum of the Locations vision by creating simple, complex and fun wines by removing the constraints of vintage, varietal and appellation to make the best possible wine from a given country or location.”

The deal is expected to be completed later this month, while financial details of the acquisition have not been divulged by the companies.

Established in 1933, Gallo crafts and imports wines and spirits and its portfolio comprises more than 90 brands.
