Captain Drake has obtained Non-GMO Project Verification status for its Drake’s Organic Spirits product.

Made from organic sugar cane, this product is one of the only alcoholic beverages in the US to achieve this status.

Drake’s organic spirits portfolio includes Organic Vodka and Organic Rum, which are claimed to have been produced using Non-GMO Project verified ingredients. It is also said to be suitable for gluten-free diets.

Drake’s Organic Spirits founder and CEO Mark Anderson said: “This achievement is one more thing that separates us from our competition.

“When consumers read ‘non-GMO’ on a label, they also expect to see the Non-GMO Project butterfly alongside it.

“We’re proud that we can provide our customers further proof of the high quality of our organic white rum and organic vodka.”

Drake’s Organic Vodka and Organic Rum are handcrafted and bottled in Rochester, New York.

The company’s new president Jason Shorrock said: “We are quickly growing with intention, focusing on the top organic hot-spots around the US.

“At Drake’s, we will be offering our products to conscientious consumers who are mindful of their impact on the planet.”

The company also noted that it will expand its organic rum and vodka ranges.

Drake’s organic spirits were launched last year. They use the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) organic and non-GMO Project verified ingredients for the distillation and distribution of premium alcoholic spirits.
