Independent Scotch whisky specialist distiller Douglas Laing is launching a limited edition XOP Platinum series and an Old Particular double pack to commemorate the company’s 70th anniversary.

The XOP Platinum series will include four single cask bottlings, beginning with the launch of a 25-year-old Ardbeg single malt Scotch whisky and follow by the release of a double pack of two 35-year-old whiskies, which are part of the brand’s Old Particular collection. One whisky is the Cambus single grain and the other is a Caol single malt.

Founded by Fred Douglas Laing in 1948, the company is now owned and operated by second and third generation Laing family members.

The whiskies in this release have been selected by Fred Laing Junior and his daughter Cara Laing, who have both signed and individually numbered each bottle.

“These bottlings are a perfect representation of Douglas Laing’s commitment to specialist, artisan Scotch whiskies.”

Douglas Laing Whisky director Cara Laing said: “2018 is a big year for us all at Douglas Laing. We’ll have fun celebrating it, something my grandfather would heartily have approved of, but it’s also a huge milestone highlighting our seven decades at the forefront of the whisky industry.

“These bottlings are a perfect representation of Douglas Laing’s commitment to specialist, artisan Scotch whiskies and we are releasing them at the point where we believe they are at their peak.

“The Ardbeg is an outstanding example of what is to come, and one I immediately knew had to be part of this special series of bottlings, while the Caol Ila and Cambus 35-year-old deliver seven decades of whisky excellence.”

The first of the XOP Platinum releases, Ardbeg 25-year-old, will be launched next month and will retail at £900, while the Old Particular pack of two 50cl bottles is priced at £450.
