Douglas Laing has unveiled its latest Scotch whiskey, 2nd Xtra Old Particular, as part of its 70th-anniversary celebrations.

The new release is a 40-year old single grain, single cask whiskey from the Port Dundas Distillery, which is located in Glasgow.

Douglas Laing chairman Fred Laing said: “Back in the 1970s, my father probably anticipated this cask of Port Dundas packing a 12-year old blend, so all those years later, it’s great to see and taste it being bottled as part of our, really his, Platinum Anniversary series.”

“With 59.1% alcohol by volume (ABV), the beverage is said to have been produced without colouring or chill-filtration.”

The latest Scotch whiskey product will join the XOP Platinum series that has been specially commissioned to mark the firm’s 70 years in the industry.

With 59.1% alcohol by volume (ABV), the beverage is said to have been produced without colouring or chill-filtration, and offers tastes of gingerbread, fruit and home baking.

The new bottle is packaged in a moleskin-hinged box, which contains a hand-signed certificate. Each bottle is individually numbered by Fred and Cara.

The 2nd Xtra Old Particular (70cl) is the second release and will be available in the market this month.

In March this year, the company released Ardbeg 25 Years Old.

Douglas Laing noted that the XOP Platinum series will be released every quarter of this year.
