African wine and spirits producer Distell has announced the release of six limited-edition malt whiskies.

The new range comprises product offerings from distilleries located in Deanston, Bunnahabhain, Tobermory and Ledaig.

Distell Malt Whisky brand director Derek Scott was quoted by media sources as saying: “Each of these new releases is unique. They tell their own story of where they came from, by maintaining the flavour profiles known to each of the brands, while having individual enhancements from being finished in carefully selected casks for their final maturation.”

“Distell’s new range will offer various taste profiles, including the sweet and smoky character of Ledaig 1998 and the spicy, chocolate flavours of Tobermory 2005.”

The product line-up includes Tobermory 2005 (12-year-old) Fino Cask Finish, Ledaig 1998 (19-year old) Oloroso Sherry Cask Finish, Ledaig 1998 (19-year old) PX Cask Finish, Deanston 2008 Brandy Cask Finish, Bunnahabhain 2008 Mòine Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Matured and Bunnahabhain Palo Cortado Cask Finish.

Distell’s new range will offer various taste profiles, including the sweet and smoky character of Ledaig 1998 and the spicy, chocolate flavours of Tobermory 2005.

The Bunnahabhain range was matured in Bordeaux red wine casts.

The recommended retail price (RRP) for the newly released line-up begins at £60 and ends at £275.

In May this year, Distell signed an agreement to sell Uitkyk wine farm to Warwick Wine Estate, which has existing interests in the Western Cape wine industry.

Distell’s managing director Richard Rushton said that the sale was part of the company’s efforts to streamline its asset portfolio and was consistent with its strategy to increase its investment on a select portfolio of wine brands and assets.
