British beverage alcohol producer Diageo has announced the release of 2020 Special Releases Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection that features eight expressions.

The collection has been inspired by the theme ‘Rare by Nature’ and curated by Master Blender Dr Craig Wilson.

The eight cask strength single malt Scotch whiskies have been sourced from various distilleries.

Diageo’s 2020 collection expressions include Cardhu 11-Year-Old; Cragganmore 20-Year-Old; Dalwhinnie 30-Year-Old; Lagavulin 12-Year-Old; Mortlach 21-Year-Old; Pittyvaich 30-Year-Old; Talisker 8-Year-Old, and The Singleton of Dufftown 17-Year-Old.

Diageo Master Blender Dr Craig Wilson said: “I’ve created this year’s Special Releases Collection, from some of my favorite distilleries across Scotland, with whisky enthusiasts in mind.

“For those who enjoy spicy flavours, my recommendation would be to try our Cardhu, and for those who favour rich, intense and smooth flavours my choice would be Mortlach 21 year old.

“If you are curious about discovering something very rare, the Pittyvaich – the single ghost distillery in our Special Releases Collection this year is an unforgettable dram.”

The company noted that its 2020 Special Releases collection will be available in limited quantities. Beginning this autumn, it will be available for purchase across specialist Scotch whisky retailers and malts.com.

During this month, Diageo agreed to acquire Aviation Gin and Davos Brands for a maximum consideration of $610m.

Under the deal, Diageo agreed to make an initial payment of $335m, while the remaining $275m will be paid to the company based on the performance of Aviation American Gin over ten years.
