Alcoholic beverages producer Constellation Brands has made a minority investment in North Carolina-based Durham Distillery.

Financial terms of the deal are yet to be divulged by either company.

Established in 2013 by Melissa and Lee Katrincic, Durham Distillery produces craft gin, vodka, liqueur and ready-to-drink canned cocktail products.

The investment, made through Constellation Brands Ventures’ Focus on Female Founders programme, focuses on female-established and female-led businesses across alcoholic beverage sector.

Durham Distillery offers a range of alcoholic beverages. Its product portfolio includes Conniption Navy Strength Gin and Conniption American Dry Gin, Damn Fine Liqueurs (Chocolate, Mocha and Coffee), Cold Distilled Cucumber Vodka and ready-to-drink canned cocktails.

Distribution of its products takes place throughout both domestic and international markets.

Constellation noted that Durham Distillery president and CEO Melissa Katrincic, as well as her husband, partner and head distiller Lee Katrincic, will continue their association with the production and distribution of the company’s products.

Last month, Constellation Brands acquired a minority stake in Colorado-based craft rum maker Montanya Distillers through the Focus on the Female Founders programme.

Karen Hoskin founded Montanya Distillers in 2008. She will continue as the president and CEO of the company.

Additionally, the 11-year-old company will continue to manage, produce and market rums such as Montanya Platino, Montanya Oro and Montanya Exclusiva.

Constellation Brands produces and markets beer, wine and spirits and has operations in the US, Mexico, New Zealand, Italy and Canada.

The company’s wine and spirits brands include the Robert Mondavi and The Prisoner Wine Company brand families, Kim Crawford, Ruffino, Meiomi and SVEDKA Vodka.
