Coca-Cola has officially opened its new hot-fill juice line at its Embakasi plant in Nairobi with an investment of KES7bn ($69m).

The new plant was inaugurated by Kenya President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Kenyatta noted that the new investment made under the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), compliments the nation’s Big Four Agenda.

He added that the agenda provides solutions to several problems that Kenyans have longed for answers for the past many years.

Kenyatta said: “Kenyans want a country that works for all of us: we want reasonably priced medical care; we want skilled jobs for our sons and daughters; we want to be entirely food secure, and we want dignified jobs for ourselves.

“The Big Four serves each of those, and it encourages every other Kenyan to do their part in the work of achieving them.”

The new hot-fill juice line will be used by the company to produce a wide range of beverages including fruit juices, sports drinks, dairy fusions and iced tea.

Additionally, the new technology is expected to help over 30,000 farmers in the region during the fruit harvest season.

Kenyatta further added that he was not only pleased with the huge investment and the direct jobs created by the plant, but also those created for suppliers and the farmers.

The Kenyan government says it will continue to create an environment that enables investors to thrive and contribute to the country’s prosperity.
