Soft drink manufacturer Coca-Cola has expanded Sprite portfolio with the launch of two variants, Sprite Ginger and Sprite Ginger Zero Sugar.

For its beverage variant, the company added a hit of ginger flavour to the lemon-lime base of Sprite.

Sprite brand manager Mark Shorey said:  “With every sip, you’ll get the crisp, refreshing cut-through of lemon-lime up front, balanced with a hit of ginger on the back-end.

“The Sprite Ginger launch is all about reinvention; reimagining the signature attributes Sprite fans know and love, with something new and unexpected. Sprite provides a versatile canvas for a variety of flavours to interact with.”

Sprite’s variants, developed in response to the increasing demand for ginger-flavoured sparkling beverages, have been launched through its Thirst for Yours’ platform.

Sprite integrated marketing communications (IMC) senior manager Sam Beresford said: “Sprite Ginger is all about adding a hit of something fresh and new, so as the first new product to launch under the ‘Thirst for Yours’ ethos, we used this concept of reinvention as creative inspiration for the collaboration.

“‘Thirst for Yours’ is all about inspiring the hip-hop tastemakers of tomorrow to do more and dream bigger by ‘putting them on’, so we offered this group of incredibly talented young creatives a wide-open runway to bring their vision and voice to life.”

Additionally, Sprite partnered with Staple Design. Staple Pigeon founder Jeff Staple released limited-edition apparel and products to support the launch.

Sprite Ginger is available for purchase at retail outlets across the US in various packaging formats including 20oz and 2l bottles, as well as 12oz can 12-packs.

Sprite Ginger Zero Sugar will be available in 12-oz cans.
