Ultra-premium and luxury tequila company Casa Dragones has extended its existing distribution agreement with Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits to boost its sale in the US market.

The deal adds 11 new US markets and the US Virgin Islands to Casa Dragones’ previous 33-market distribution footprint.

Southern Glazer’s supplier management and business development executive vice-president Ray Lombard said: “Casa Dragones has pioneered the sipping tequila trend and has become a category leader.

“Their unique approach to craftsmanship and quality continues to modernize and expand the tequila category. With this expanded alignment, Casa Dragones will be able to take full advantage of Southern Glazer’s scale and efficiencies as they embark on their next phase of growth in the US.”

Joven and Blanco sipping tequilas producer Casa Dragones made its debut in the US and Mexican markets in 2009.

Following the deal, Casa Dragones’ brands will now be available across Southern Glazer’s entire US network.

The company’s co-founder and CEO Bertha González Nieves said: “Our mission is to help shape the future of the tequila industry and this is an important milestone in the Casa Dragones journey.

“Aligning with Southern Glazer’s will accelerate our growth and also help us capture the increasing demand for our ultra-premium tequila among tequila aficionados. Southern Glazer’s strong brand-building expertise, deep industry insights and efficient route-to-market capabilities make them the right partner to further strengthen our position in the ultra-premium and luxury tequila space.”

In January, Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits expanded its distribution agreement with French winemaker Gérard Bertrand to five more markets in the US.

Southern Glazer’s now distributes Bertrand’s wine products to Arizona, California, Hawaii, Utah and Wyoming, in addition to the existing 28 markets in the US.
