Danish brewer Carlsberg has opened a new brewery Karnataka, India.

With an annual capacity of 80 million litres, the new brewery is located at Nanjangud in the city of Mysuru.

The alcoholic beverage maker currently offers beer brands such as Carlsberg and Tuborg in Karnataka. The firm also has four contract manufacturing agreements.

Part of Carlsberg’s strategy to boost its footprint in the south-west region of India, the facility will produce Carlsberg Classic, Tuborg, Carlsberg Elephant, Tuborg Strong and Tuborg Classic with Scotch Malts for the Indian market.

The Indian unit of Carlsberg has recently begun importing and distributing Kronenbourg 1664 in certain Indian cities, including Bengaluru.

Last May, Carlsberg India appointed Nilesh Patel as its new managing director, replacing Michael N. Jensen, who has been moved to Myanmar as managing director.
