Organic flavour and ingredient manufacturer Blue Pacific Flavors has formed a partnership with McCormick & Company.

Under the distribution agreement, non-genetically modified organism (GMO), natural flavours will be sold using McCormick’s Flavor Solutions business segment FlavorCell technology.

This will allow Blue Pacific to provide its customers with encapsulated natural flavour delivery in powdered beverages.

The collaboration will provide Blue Pacific with access to the proprietary, patented-technology platform.

Blue Pacific Flavors is engaged in producing natural and certified organic fruit and sweet flavours for a broad range of applications including beverages, plant-based milk, milk, ice cream, frozen desserts, bakery and nutritional foods.

Commenting on the agreement, Blue Pacific Flavors CEO Donald Wilkes said: “Higher quality and better-tasting powdered beverages are becoming a preferred option for Millennials and Gen Z who want beverages that offer authentic taste and convenience and share their values in sustainability.

“We see substantial interest in higher quality, encapsulated natural flavours from our core natural food and beverage clients. Our customers are looking for flavours that have a stronger aroma and more authentic flavour impact than traditional spray-dried flavours.”

Products produced using FlavorCell technology are claimed to have a better aroma, solubility and shelf life.

In addition to beverages, the company claims that its flavours can be used for the confectionery and bakery products.

McCormick US & Latin America Flavor Solutions president Megan Ford said: “At McCormick, we are excited to work with Blue Pacific to bring the benefits of FlavorCell to new markets and to help more product developers overcome challenges on their way to creating memorable, consumer-preferred taste experiences.”
