Astral Tequila has introduced a spirit product in new smart bottles to deliver an engaging, customised digital experience to customers.

The company claims that the interactive bottle will be first of its kind in the US market featuring near-field communication (NFC) technology. It was a result of a collaboration with NFC mobile marketing solutions provider Thin Film Electronics (Thinfilm).

Based in Norway, Thinfilm designs and develops solutions that integrate mobile-interactive touch points to physical products.

Thinfilm’s technology offers end-to-end mobile marketing solutions that feature hardware, cloud-based campaign management tools, and comprehensive reporting and analytics.

Astral’s smart bottle will feature a custom NFC-enabled neck collar, which will be available in retail outlets in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Illinois, New Jersey, and Georgia.

Customers can view exclusive content by tapping their smartphone against the bottle, which presents an original video from actor Jonathan Goldsmith.

Astral Tequila is a 92-proof drink, which is said to be elegant, complex, subtle, smooth, and balanced.
