Arterra Wines acquires Culmina Family Estate Winery in Canada

Arterra Wines Canada (AWC) has completed the acquisition Culmina Family Estate Winery, a premium boutique winery that was founded by Don and Elaine Triggs in 2007.

Financial details of the transaction have not been divulged.

Headquartered in Mississauga, Ontario, Arterra Wines Canada operates eight wineries and more than 1,700 acres of premium vineyards in Canada’s wine regions.

The company owns and distributes more than 100 wine brands, such as Jackson-Triggs, Inniskillin, Sawmill Creek, Wallaroo Trail, Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, Ruffino and Kim Crawford.

AWC produces wines from Black Sage Vineyard, Sumac Ridge Estate Winery, See Ya Later Ranch, Jackson-Triggs and Inniskillin Okanagan, Nk’Mip Cellars and Laughing Stock Vineyards. It employs more than 500 people in British Columbia (BC).

Arterra Wines Canada president and CEO Jay Wright said: “I have personally worked closely with the Triggs family over the years, so I’m immensely proud to bring the Culmina Family Estate Winery into the Arterra Wines Canada family.

“They have played such an integral role in building our Canadian wine industry and we are proud to continue the legacy Culmina has created.”

The acquisition of Culmina Family Estate Winery is expected to complement AWC’s diverse selection of Canadian and VQA wines.

Located on the Golden Mile Bench in the South Okanagan Valley of BC, Culmina Family Estate Winery was established by Don, Elaine and Sara Triggs.

Culmina Family Estate Winery co-proprietors Don and Elaine Triggs and their daughter Sara said: “We have a long history with Jay and his team at Arterra Wines Canada, so we are confident they will continue the development of Culmina’s destiny as a producer of iconic quality wines.”

With the completion of the deal, Sara will be joining AWC as sales and marketing director and will be supporting the vision, strategy and planning for Culmina.
