British alcoholic beverage producer Alderman’s Drinks has expanded its portfolio by launching Arlu Rum brand.

The rum has been imported from Guyana’s Demerara Diamond Distillery, blended with natural flavours and spices in Manchester.

The company notes that the rum will be available in three different flavours, including Arlu Rum Original Spiced, Arlu Rum Passionfruit & Mango, and Arlu Rum Blood Orange.

Arlu Rum Original Spiced offers notes of vanilla fudge and butter. Meanwhile, Arlu Rum Passionfruit & Mango and Arlu Rum Blood Orange are produced using Caribbean rums and featuring a wide range of spices and fruit flavours.

Established in January 2017 by Mark Smallwood and Liam Manton, Alderman’s Drinks has been engaged in various activities including distilling, rectifying and blending of spirits.

It also owns gin brand Didsbury Gin.

Manton said: “We can’t contain our excitement any longer… ARLU RUM, our second brand under Alderman’s Drinks has landed! Consumers and connoisseurs are constantly looking for innovation, more so than ever in the rum category as the ‘rumaissance’ shows no signs of slowing down, and this range of beauties won’t disappoint.”

The product is now available for purchase Harvey Nichols and online on the company website for a price of £23.

The company anticipates Arlu Rum brand would help it capitalise on the growing demand for spirits in the UK market.

Last April, the Wine & Spirit Trade Association (WSTA) announced that UK rum sales increased to almost 35 million bottles.

Worth more than £1bn, the sales figures represented around 9% of the year’s spirits sales, which totalled at just over £11bn. Rum and gin were the biggest earners.
