ZX Ventures has purchased the remaining stake of Babe Wine following a minority acquisition last year.

An affiliate of global brewer Anheuser Busch (AB) InBev, ZX Ventures has seen an increase in the distribution of Babe Wine rosé, pinot grigio and red wine sales through the AB network.

The wine brand was launched in 2016 as Swish Beverages by Josh Ostrovsky, David Oliver Cohen and Tanner Cohen.

The acquisition is said to be in line with zX Ventures’ strategy to fuel growth in the US by offering consumers with brands for every occasion.

AB Inbev CEO Michel Doukeris said: “We pride ourselves on putting the consumer first and evolving with them through innovation and cultural engagement, and Babe Wine is in a class by itself when it comes to understanding their drinkers and building brand loyalty.

“We’re looking forward to taking this partnership to the next level and using our distribution capabilities to share Babe’s great portfolio with more consumers around the country.”

AB has added Babe Wine to its Beyond Beer category. Other brands in this category include Drinkworks, Bon & Viv Spiked Seltzer and Cutwater Spirits.

David Oliver Cohen said: “Anheuser-Busch pioneered the modern beverage landscape. We have a dream to make Babe into America’s #1 wine, and A-B has the vision, the capabilities, the people and the network to help us get there.”

Josh Ostrovsky, David Oliver Cohen and their senior leadership team will continue to lead the Babe Wine brand.
