US-based craft distiller ANGEL’S ENVY has expanded its Cellar Collection with a second release, ANGEL’S ENVY Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Tawny Port Wine Barrels.

Crafted from ten-year-old bourbon, the variant is said to have undergone an extended finishing process for ten months in Tawny Port barrels, making it the company’s oldest single release to date.

ANGEL’S ENVY co-founder and chief innovation officer Wes Henderson said: “My dad always used to say ‘taste is never an accident,’ and when we first started dreaming up what Angel’s Envy could be, we knew we wanted to explore and push the boundaries of bourbon. Our tawny port finish embodies exactly that.

“When you combine the mellow finish from the tawny port barrels with the profile of our 10-year-old bourbon, you get a richness and complexity that I think our fans will really enjoy.”

With 55.8% alcohol by volume (ABV), ANGEL’S ENVY release offers notes of dry fruit, oak, black pepper, toasted nuts, clove and cinnamon spice, reminiscent of dried fruit dipped in dark chocolate.

From 8 February, ANGEL’S ENVY Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey Finished in Tawny Port Wine Barrels will be available for purchase at some select retail outlets in California, New York, Florida, Kentucky, Illinois and Tennessee.

The expression will be also available at ANGEL’S ENVY’s distillery in downtown Louisville.

With only 5,400 distributed into the market, the company’s 500 main members will have early access to purchase the bottle.

It can be purchased for a suggested retail price (SRP) of $249.99 per 750ml bottle.
