Global spirits company Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has acquired a controlling stake in Austrian distributor and wholesaler Mountain Spirits.

Financial details of the deal are yet to be divulged by either company.

Established in 2004, Mountain Spirits portfolio has a range of international brands and premium beverages across the world.

The portfolio is expected to include ABG’s Riga Black Balsam, Tambovskaya Vodka, Rooster Rojo Tequila, Cosmopolitan Diva and Cross Keys Gin brands.

Mountain Spirits founder and managing director Markus Panzl said: “Joining ABG represents a very promising venture which will strengthen our portfolio and footprint in Austria and Europe overall.

Headquartered in Luxembourg, ABG offers beverages through its production and distribution companies located in the UK, Australia, Austria, Russia, Mexico and the Baltic region. It has a portfolio of more than 200 brands.

Amber Beverage Group CEO Seymour Ferreira said: “Mountain Spirits, a boutique and highly respected Austrian distribution company and wholesaler, will provide us with a powerful footprint in Central Europe and with the ability to reach into the strategically important Alps.

In June, ABG acquired UK-based drinks distributor Cellar Trends.
