Supermarket chain Aldi is set to launch a limited-edition colour-changing gin across the UK.

Called Forest Fruits Colour Changing Gin, the fruity beverage was previously launched in Scottish stores earlier this year. It changes colour from a pale sapphire to a soft pink when tonic is added.

It is packaged in an embossed clear, recyclable bottle, and has been distilled with Asian Butterfly petals.

In response to customer demand, Aldi is planning to expand the product’s footprint to England, Wales and Northern Ireland next month.

The gin’s manufacturer McQueen Gin’s managing director and co-founder Dale McQueen said: “As a small craft distillery, a partnership with one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets is a huge venture for us, and we are delighted to be working with Aldi again.

“As a small craft distillery, a partnership with one of the UK’s biggest supermarkets is a huge venture for us.”

“Not only does our gin taste great, it also brings a little bit of theatre to gin o’clock and is the perfect pairing for tonic and lime.”

The new drink will be available for £19.99 on the supermarket’s online site from 8 October this year.

Aldi’s UK managing director Julie Ashfield said: “New and exciting products are key for offering Aldi shoppers interesting ways to refresh their drinks cabinets.

“This gin is a fantastic addition to our award-winning spirits range, which we are delighted to now be bringing to shoppers south of the border, following its great success in our Scottish stores.

“We are proud to support distillers who are at the forefront of new concepts and it is our close working relationships with suppliers like McQueen’s that allow us to bring such innovative products, at great-value prices to our shelves.”
