Australian dairy-based nutrition company the a2 Milk has expanded its presence in the US market by securing a distribution partnership with Walmart.

As part of the agreement, a2 Milk products will be available at Walmart stores in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Maryland and Washington DC.

The a2 Milk Company’s US CEO Blake Waltrip said: “Achieving distribution with such a powerful and respected retailer such as Walmart further validates the a2 Milk brand proposition in the US and marks a critical point in our company’s drive to bring consumers back to dairy by providing our products to the roughly 75 million Americans who report dairy intolerance.

“The a2 Milk proposition is unique in the dairy industry, and we are looking forward to continuing to spread awareness of the benefits of A1 protein-free milk with the first to the market brand, a2 Milk.”

This latest partnership with Walmart is expected to expand the company’s footprint across the US as part of a major expansion into the northeast.

The a2 Milk Company global managing director and CEO Jayne Hrdlicka added: “We are thrilled that millions more Americans will now have the opportunity to bring a2 Milk into their homes for their families.

“Our products offer a natural solution to those people who experience digestive discomfort from dairy and this is the next step of our goal of giving everyone the chance to enjoy the nutritious benefits of real milk.”

Apart from Walmart, the a2 Milk products are available at more than 6,000 retail outlets in the US, including Wegmans, Stop & Shop, Giant Carlisle, Giant Landover, Whole Foods Market, Market Basket and Sprouts stores, as well as Safeway, King Soopers, Target, Ralphs, Publix, ShopRite and The Fresh Market locations.
