Coca-Cola concluded $4.9bn acquisition of Costa

The Coca-Cola Company completed an acquisition of Costa from its parent company Whitbread.

Valued at $4.9bn, the deal was first announced on 31 August last year. It was completed after obtaining regulatory approvals in the EU and China.

The Coca-Cola Company CEO James Quincey said: “We see great opportunities for value creation through the combination of Costa’s capabilities and Coca-Cola’s marketing expertise and global reach.”

CCA signed beverage supply agreement with Pizza Hut in Australia

Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) signed a five-year beverage supply agreement with Pizza Hut restaurants in Australia.

As per the agreement, CCA will be the sole supplier for a range of beverages, including carbonated soft drinks, still and sparkling water, flavoured milk and juice products to 285 Pizza Hut restaurants.

CCA Australian beverages managing director Peter West said: “This is the beginning of a strong new relationship with one of Australia’s largest pizza restaurant and home delivery chains, 285 restaurants selling more than three-quarters of a million pizzas each year. It means more Australians can enjoy a great beverage alongside a great pizza.”

Diageo’s USL sold equity in FSWL

United Spirits (USL) executed a share purchase agreement for the sale of its entire equity share capital in wholly-owned subsidiary Four Seasons Wines (FSWL) and associated brands to Grover Zampa Vineyards and Quintela Assets.

USL is an Indian subsidiary of British multinational alcoholic beverages company Diageo.

Established in 2006, FSWL is based in Bangalore and produces red, white and rosé wines from grapes cultivated in Sahyadri valley, Maharashtra. FSWL markets its wines under the Zinzi and Four Seasons brands.

Nestlé opened new coffee plant for Bonjorno brand in Egypt

Nestlé opened a new 12,740m² coffee plant for its Bonjorno brand in Egypt with an investment of EGP250m ($14m).

Featuring advanced coffee-making technologies, the new plant is expected to provide around 7,000 indirect jobs alongside the current 240 direct employees.

The plant’s eight production lines have a capacity of 14,000t, which is expected to reach 22,000-44,000t in the future.
